The Origins of Wakamatsu Ebisu Shrine
The founding of Wakamatsu Ebisu Shrine dates back approximately 1800 years ago, when Emperor Chuai and Empress Jingu visited the province of Tsukushi. When the Empress’s ship was sailing through Dokai Bay, a shining jewel was discovered on the seabed. The Emperor was delighted, calling this stone “a sign of the will of the god of the sea,” and it is said that Takenouchi no Sukune moored the ship at a nearby beach and enshrined this sacred stone, which was the beginning of the shrine.
