The “Place of Scenic Beauty – Tachibana Clan Garden” is a nationally designated place of scenic beauty, spanning 7,000 tsubo (approximately 23,140 square meters). The site includes the “Shoto-en” garden on the west side of Yanagawa and Ohana, as well as the Tachibana Residence. It was designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty in 1978, and in 2011, the entire site was additionally designated.

The Tachibana Residence was built by Yanagawa Domain lord Tachibana Sadasuke in 1738. Along with the Ohana Batake (Ohana estate), and the garden, it was designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty as the “Tachibana Clan Garden.” From the 100-tatami-mat grand hall, you can see the “Shoto-en” garden, where the green of black pine trees is framed. About 280 black pine trees, 1,500 garden stones, and 14 stone lanterns are placed, and wild ducks gather and play on the surface of the water, where two islands and numerous rocky islets float, in the winter.

“Yanagawa Domain Lord Tachibana Residence Ohana” is located near the end point of a river cruise and is a place of scenic beauty filled with attractions.
