The Spring Grand Festival is one of the annual events at Munakata Taisha Shrine, and it is held every year in April. Munakata Taisha Shrine is an ancient shrine located in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and it enshrines the Munakata Sanjoshin (Three Goddesses of Munakata). The Munakata Sanjoshin are considered to be powerful gods of the sea and the road in Japan.
On the first day, the Shuki-jiho Fuzoku-mai (local folk dances) are dedicated. On the second day, the Urayasu-mai dance is dedicated, and the Sōsha-sai (Grand Shrine Festival) and Munakata Gokoku Jinja-sai (Munakata Shrine for the Protection of the Nation Festival) are held, attracting many people.
