The Miyajidake Shrine Iris Festival (Edo Iris First Cutting Ceremony) will be held at the Folk Village Iris Garden of Miyajidake Shrine, where 100 varieties and 100,000 stalks of Edo iris, one of the largest in Kyushu, bloom.
Irises cut by Shinto priests are offered to the gods, and shrine maidens, holding the fresh irises, perform an elegant dance. This festival is held during the beautiful fresh green season, allowing visitors to enjoy the mystical atmosphere.
