A dedication of the taiko drum dance called Numagaku will be performed at Numa Hachimangu Shrine in Moji City.
This taiko drum dance has been passed down for approximately 300 years and was dedicated for rain prayers, abundant harvests, and warding off evil. Beginning with a staff-fighting display, 12 different types of taiko dances are performed after the declaration.
The sound of the drums and the powerful dance captivate many spectators. Numagaku is also designated as an intangible folk cultural property of the prefecture.
