The “Atago Cherry Blossoms” at Washio Atago Shrine, which is counted as one of the three major Atago shrines in Japan, are popular as auspicious cherry blossoms. It is a famous spot where you can enjoy various types of cherry blossoms, including approximately 2,000 Kawazu cherry blossoms and double-flowered cherry blossoms, for a long period from the early bloom.
Because it is located at the summit of Mount Atago, which is 68m above sea level, you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing while overlooking Fukuoka City. It is also famous as a night view spot, and the collaboration of the lit-up night cherry blossoms and the lights of Fukuoka City is magnificent.
The flowering period is from late March to around mid-April. Be sure to visit when you visit Fukuoka.
