What is Ryumonji Ware?
Ryumonji Ware is a traditional pottery that was established in 1688 by Mitsuhisa Shimazu, the lord of the Satsuma Domain. It is characterized by its unique texture, created by using local clay rich in iron and applying white turbid glaze or blue-flowing glaze to the dark brown base. The simple yet powerful and warm works add color to everyday life.
