The current station building at JR Kokura Station is the fourth generation, having opened in March 1998. It has 3 floors above ground and 1 floor below ground, with a total floor area of approximately 50,000 square meters. The station building’s design was chosen through an international competition, and the roof and walls feature a design inspired by the stone walls of Kokura Castle.
