Aso Oura-so in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is a mansion that retains the valuable architectural style of the Meiji era. Although it is usually closed to the public, a special autumn leaves opening is held every year, and many people visit.

Aso Oura-so was built as the residence of the Aso family, which is counted as one of the three major families of the Chikuhou region. The mansion, which has a refined Japanese hip-and-gable roof shoin-zukuri style, is designated as a registered tangible cultural property of the country.

During the special autumn leaves opening period, the gardens around the mansion are beautifully colored. In the gardens paved with lawns, trees such as maple, ginkgo, and Japanese maple are planted, and the red and yellow leaves dancing in the wind are truly a spectacular view.

In addition, exhibitions introducing the history and culture of the Aso family are also held inside the mansion. By visiting the family crest and family tree of the Aso family, as well as household items of the time, you can remember the glory of the Aso family.
